What is Tiritiri o Matangi: The Draft Waitara Spatial Plan?
Tiritiri o Mātangi: The Waitara Spatial Plan outlines how Waitara will grow and evolve over the next 30+ years to meet the needs of tangata whenua, tangata tiriti, and te taiao. It aims to ensure Waitara remains a vibrant place to live, work, and play for future generations.
Tiritiri o Mātangi is not just a Council plan. It has been developed through a co-creation process between hapū and New Plymouth District Council, with input from the Waitara community, Taranaki Regional Council and other government agencies and stakeholders.
The plan also addresses key challenges like ageing infrastructure, natural hazards, housing, jobs, and services. Tiritiri o Mātangi provides a framework to guide investment and planning for healthy, connected communities with enough land for homes, infrastructure, and services.
